Right now the City Council is finding out what people think about how it should give licenses to premises (buildings) for gambling.
Gambling includes betting, slot machines, one-armed bandits, shove penny... usually you can’t place bets or use gambling machines unless you are 18. You can play games like shove penny if you are younger. There are places in the city that young people can go to where there is a license to allow some gambling.
One of the reasons why places have to have a license is to protect young people from the harmful side of gambling. People can lose a lot of money if they gamble without any luck and some people can get addicted to gambling.
If you have an opinion about gambling and how young people can be protected from it, we would like to hear from you. We’d like to hear your views in general and especially if you have opinions about the type of place, or its location, where gambling should be permitted.
